EGYPT’s ARMY ENGINEERING AUTHORITY GETS FUND FOR DESALINATION PLANT
SCZone to issue EGP 1.3bn as cost for establishing a seawater desalination plant.
Egypt’s engineering authority of the Army forces has receive fund for its desalination plants. The funds which is worth EGP 1.3bn is from Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone). It will be use as part of the cost for establishing a seawater desalination plant in the southern area.
Vice President of SCZone, Mohamed Shaaban said ”The desalination plant has a production capacity of 100,000 cubic metres per day at a cost of about EGP 1.76bn.”
According to Shaaban, the southern area water needs are estimated at 250,000 cubic metres per day until 2030. While about 120,000 cubic metres per day will be use from 2020 to 2025.
In a bid to increase production, Arab organisation for industrialization will establish a sewage treatment station at SCZone. The aim is to increase the capacity of 35,000 cubic metres per day over three stage. The project first phase is schedule for completion by April 2020.
Currently, companies operating in the southern zone has reached 192 firms. They are ranging from industrial to service companies which is spanning over 81.26 sqm which represent 39% of the total 209 sqm area.
Shaaban also noted that companies are seeking to implement project in the fields of food production, petrochemicals, petroleum supplies, automotive, building materials etc.
